I'm in the mood for some folksy, coffee-shop acoustic indie type christian music. Not the Peter Paul & Mary kind *cough*...something cool and Ingrid Michaelson-esque. I search google. What comes up? Sarah Groves & Sixpence None the Richer. Oh wait, there is that one site I found that considers the band Aaron Jeffrey a folk music group. Um, seriously...Are you kidding me?
I can't imagine there are only 2 artists in this genre in all the English speaking world. Please, if you have input point me in the right direction.

I wish I could help, but Justin's the music encyclopedia. Hopefully he'll weigh in on this.
There's not alot out there if your looking for a John Mayer/acoustic christian sound. Once you stick a Christian singer behind an acoustic guitar it turns into praise and worship. The artists that come to mind are Jason Morant (very laid back feel), Shawn McDonald, and Jon Foreman. Jon Foreman is the lead singer of SwitchFoot who recently released a series of short albums for a solo project. He would be your best bet. My advice is to venture outside of the christian scene for some true folk "Life" music.
OH MY GOSH! Jennifer Knapp is a GREAT christian folk singer! I can't believe I didn't think of her before. She's definitely worth checking out.
I forgot about Jennifer Knapp! I have a CD of hers. Yes, def worth checking out some of her new stuff. And the others you mentioned I haven't heard of so yeah, def check them out too! Thanks!
